Take home a little piece of the colorful Southwest in this original oil painting of Shiprock, New Mexico. My reference photos were taken in-person, an overnight road trip from Denver, CO to New Mexico. I spent the night sleeping in the back of my Subaru so I could drive out to location before the sun and catch the fire of the sunrise slowly hitting the caps of the landscape. The purple-blue shadows made the orange of the morning seem even more vibrant. 

New Mexico is so special to me, as it's where my grandma and her family are from. The food I ate growing up was the Mexican cuisine of New Mexico (if you know, you know - there's a difference between Mexico Mexican food and New Mexico Mexican food! All delicious though). This road trip joined my younger brother and I, myself living in Colorado and he lived in Las Vegas, NV. We each got our big bags of fire roasted chiles to take home and peel, and each a ristra of red chiles. It's a fond memory!
